Jenny tells me:  I have a V6 96 Mercury Mystique. It has been knocking for a couple of months now. The sticker says the oil isn’t supposed to be changed for another 100 miles or so but when I checked the oil there was barely any in there so I put some in.

Rene tells me:  THERES LIGHT GREY SMOKE COMING OUT OF MY FRONT VENT IN MY 95 JEEP

Rene, I hope you just drove through a forest fire for this condition to exist… Just kidding. Wink

Rene, if you will take the time to notice what the smoke odor smells like it will help you determine what the cause is.

If is smells like engine oil burning it may be from something in or on the engine, but it actually sounds like your fan motor is about to or has already failed. This will require you to replace the fan motor because this is a non serviceable part.
