Subject:  2000 CHEVY ASTRO VAN

Erik says:  Hi Dave, have a 2000 Chevy Astro van temp gauge, fuel gauge, no lights on dash and no heat fan controls. Thanks for your time

Erik, first check the fuse going to the instrument panel, all those lights should be tied in together with one fuse.

The heat fan control could be a fuse but probably is a fan motor control relay and you will need to look in a manual to find where that’s located. If the instrument panel fuse is good then you may have to remove the instrument cluster from the dash and attack the bulbs, one at a time.

Subject:  1999 Toyota Corolla

Shedrick asks:  Dave, I have a 1999 Toyota Corolla and the dashboard lights for the speedometer, gas and temperature gauges are out. The lights for the A/C and climatic controls are also out. It is impossible to see at night. How can they be fixed? Thanks.

Well Shedrick, you need to check fuses first and if all is well then find a manual for your car and read on how to replace the instrument panel light bulbs.

Good luck…

Subject:  1989 Olds

Bill asks: I have a 1989 Olds Cutlass Sierra. Just recently the horn, right turn signal, interior light and radio stopped working.

Bill, don’t turn right or honk at anyone while singing in the car…Kidding of course.

That is an odd combination of items to quit functioning at the same time. Check the fuses and the wire harness under the dash for a possible bad connection. Check behind the fuse block for cracks or loose connections.

That’s all I can think of for now Bill. Good luck…

Subject:  Power Windows

Doreen asks: Both front windows went out on my Chevy S-10 Blazer, what’s the problem? What needs to be replaced?  Is it difficult and expensive? HELP

Doreen, check the fuses for the windows if they went out simultaneously.

It could also be the driver’s side window switch panel with all the buttons right there by your left hand. This will most likely need to be replaced. Depending on the year of vehicle will depend on the price of the part.
