Subject:  1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Sl fuel injectors

Ricky asks:  Dear Dave, Gotta 1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Sl I need to know how many ohms should fuel injectors show to be good. Also how should the fuel injectors coil resistance read correctly, 3.1 multi-port fuel injection v6 automatic

Ricky, from the research I have done I find that the stock injectors for the make and model should be right at 12.6 ohms resistance. This correct ohm reading helps the ECM read the injector correctly so the pulse can be delivered. Ohms range from 2 to 16 on various vehicles..

Subject:  cant get my car to start and run

Tammy writes:  I have a 1992 Oldsmobile cutlass supreme sl 3.1 v 6 we have changed ecm, crankshaft sensor, fuel regulator, map sensor, ignition module, checked fuses, fuel pressure check, injectors wont fire, can spray starting fluid in throttle and it will start & run as long as you spray starting fluid. Does this year model have a cam sensor. Please help!!!!

Tammy, you are correct that the injectors don?t have a pulse width to let them fire. This is why it runs with the starting fluid. Everything else must be OK. I don’t know if that year has a cam sensor.

Subject:  Fuel Injectors

Dustin asks:  hi I have a 2004 dodge ram 1500 Hemi. I have been modifying a little here and there and I thought my next step would be upgrading my fuel injectors. what I am wondering is if there is anything else I have to change besides the injectors themselves so I don?t cause any damage or can I change them and that be it?

Dustin, you may want to also check the pressure relief setting on the fuel rail and change that up so you have more fuel pressure to enhance the new injectors.
