Dave’s Free Car Repair Advice

Car repair question? Ask Dave – he’ll do his best to help you figure out what’s wrong with your car & how to get it fixed so it’s running like a new one.

Ashley tells me:  My ‘05 Ford Escape has recently started doing something odd. When I take freeway trips (30-minutes or longer), after exiting off and coming to a light/stop, my car stalls out and dies. After a minute or two, I can start her up again — as long as I’m giving her a lot of “juice”. This is not a daily issue since I’m not getting on the highway for work, etc. Any insight??

Ashley, first you need to have the engine trouble codes checked and repaired. Secondly, you need to have a tune up and have all the filters changed.

It sounds to me like your car engine is getting a little too hot. I would also have the transmission fluid and filter changed. Good luck…
