Ron asks:  PUT NEW DISTRIBUTOR, TIMING BELT, SPARKPLUGS AND GOOD GAS IN IT CHECKED TIMING (GOOD) FUEL PUMP IS WORKING (UP TO PRESHER) STILL DONT WANT TO START! WHAT more CAN I do to get it running not even a back fire!

Ron, the first thing to check on an engine not starting is fuel. Make sure you have fuel to the rail and injectors.  If it is a throttle body, be sure you see fuel going in the throat. Next, make sure the injectors are getting a pulse to open and allow fuel to get in the cylinder.

Maybe check a plug and see if it is wet. Have you checked the fuse block, injectors have a fuse and sometimes 2 fuses, one for each bank of cylinders, and some ignition systems have fuses. Don’t forget to change the fuel filter on a sitting vehicle.

Next, are you getting spark to the plugs, and checking with a volt meter, are you getting voltage to the distributor? Is the coil good? How did you check timing? With a timing light, static, or did you check with the distributor rotor pointing to #1 on the cap and the mark on the crankshaft at TDC for #1 cylinder. Are you absolutely sure the distributor is not 180 degrees out?

If you are getting fuel and the spark is going to the plugs and your fuses are all good, you may need to double check the timing marks on the gears of the timing belt. I hope you checked a motors manual on the alignment, some marks are aligned at 90 degrees pointing sideways, like on a Ford 292 cid. engine.

Hope this helps Ron…
