What about air pressure in your tires in the summer? We usually keep our tires at 32 psi. But with the sudden rise in the temperature this time of year its possible in a few days it could rise 40 degrees. Would it be a good idea to lower the tire pressure in the spring to help adjust to the heat or would you leave the pressure as is and just check it once in awhile as it gets hotter?
Tom, actually your tires can handle the rise in pressure if kept at 32 psi year round. If you were to lower your pressure below 32 psi and were driving this way, the wear on your tires would be excessive on the inside and outside of the tread making it look like you needed an alignment when you really don’t.
Another angle to think about is the comfort of your ride. At 32 psi your ride is normal. At 35 psi your ride will feel more firm, you will feel the road a bit more and maybe hear more road noise. At less than 32 psi your tires may squeal a bit more when cornering, the suspension will feel soft, maybe less road noise but excessive wear for sure.
I would just leave it at 32 psi and enjoy the ride. Take it easy Tom and drive safe…
Dave
